R Kelly Threatens To Sue Lifetime Over Documentary Claiming He Slept With Aaliyah When She Was 15

Popular US singer R Kelly has threatened to sue Lifetime over allegations made in their upcoming documentary Surviving R. Kelly, which airs today, January 3, 2019.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that the musician’s back-up singer Jovante Cunningham had claimed in the documentary that she saw Kelly having sex with 15-year-old Aaliyah among other new shocking allegations about the singer abusing multiple women.

Lifetime’s new documentary Surviving R. Kelly is centred on interviews from his accusers and those that have lived through the singer’s abuse over the years.

The eye-opening six-part docu-series interviews dozens of former friends, family members and colleagues, who all make grim claims about the singer abusing women and young girls.

But TMZ  is reporting that Kelly is now planning legal action against the TV network if it doesn’t pull the plug on the documentary.

In a legal letter written by Kelly’s lawyer Brian Nix and obtained by the online newspaper, a federal lawsuit is threatened for Thursday, the same day the documentary is due to air, if the programme isn’t pulled from schedules.    

Kelly is claiming the subjects in the documentary are making false allegations to become famous, and also claims he has two audio recordings that show Lifetime knew ‘some of the girls are lying, but that the budget was too high to turn back now.’
